HumboldtStrong Charitable Foundation

On April 6th 2018, the community of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, the nation of Canada and people all over the world were devastated by news of a highway tragedy that killed 16 Humboldt Broncos’ players, coaches and personnel, and injured, in many cases severely, the 13 other passengers. In the immediate hours after the incident, a GoFundMe page was launched by a concerned Humboldt resident, with the initial goal of raising $5,000 to pay for incidental expenses for the families of the tragedy’s victims.

After donations poured in from over 140,000 people in over 80 countries around the world, the total money raised through this GoFundMe page exceeded $15-million. Intake of donations was closed on April 18th. The Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc. was subsequently created to responsibly manage and distribute this money to the individuals and families for which the funds were intended. 100% of the funds and interest in the HBMFI will go to the victims, or families of the victims of the 29 individuals involved in this tragedy. After the deduction of fees to cover the cost of third-party (credit) card processors as well as the secure transfer of funds, the net amount the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc (HBMFI) anticipates receiving is $14,676,373.
